Happy New Year to my blog readers. I am plugging away on my feature film so it doesn’t leave time for blogging.
2012 is turning into quite a year so far. We have a lot of heavy hitters out on the road. Ringo, The Boss, Paul Simon (is supposed to do a Graceland Reunion tour, but I won’t hold my breath), the Beach Boys etc etc. Ringo has announced a video competition on his website and also announced that he has picked the new All Starr band and he left it up to use to guess who’s in it. So that’s what this blog is about. I picked some of his friends, 2 of which that have not been in the band for a real long time (Joe Walsh, 1992) or never (Jeff Lynne). Jeff really does nothing except produce an album here and there, so Jeff, get back into the spotlight, we miss you. Lastly, it is really hard to find a good singing drummer. We sort of O.D.ed on Simon Kirke from Bad Co from 1997-2000 and Shelia E, 2003-2006. My first choice would have been Don Henley, but I don’t know if he can drum a whole show and be content with only singing 2 songs. I heard Roger Taylor sing at a benefit show and while he is a bit rough, I like a voice with soul (Paul Carrack anyone?) Paul Carrack really needs to tour the US.
This would be my ultimate dream All-Starr band.
